While these are not as powerful as the higher-end versions, they are perfectly suited for urban environments.
• ThermoBall synthetic insulation. TNF uses it extensively, but it's also the most common in its mass-market lines. ThermoBall is a complete alternative to goose down. Unlike traditional long-fiber down, it consists of microscopic clusters, allowing it to retain heat for a long time, even when damp. Clothing with ThermoBall doesn't restrict movement or weigh the wearer down.
• Water-repellent GORE-TEX and FUTURELIGHT membranes. These two membranes have been used by the company for quite some time and have stood the test of time. Both are distinguished by their breathability and virtually complete waterproofness from the outside. This does not interfere with ventilation or moisture transfer due to heat exchange from the inside to the outside.
